What’s Coming in the 2026 Sportage

Kia listened to critics and made subtle design changes inside and out. For the last few years, the Sportage has had boomerang-shaped accent lights and low-mounted headlights. The 2026 model has an upgraded front grille with the brand’s star map lights and amber daytime running lights. This new headlight style fits with the rest of the Kia brand models.

The interior features also include a new steering wheel with flat edges and a dash with dual 12.3-inch panoramic displays. Drivers can choose an all-black interior or a two-toned version, all with the piano-black bezel in the center console. The Sportage is now available with a Head-Up Display, Remote Park Assist, and the new Kia Highway Driving Assist system.

What’s Under the Hood?

What hasn’t changed in the Kia Sportage is the fuel-efficient powertrain. The balanced and smooth ride comes from the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 187 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. Kia pairs the engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and most models come with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available.

Models with front-wheel drive get an EPA-estimated fuel rating of 25 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway. The all-wheel drive models get an EPA-estimated fuel rating of 23 MPG in the city and 26 MPG on the highway. Kia continues to offer the Sportage Hybrid and Sportage Plug-in Hybrid models.

Interior Tech & Safety Features

New tech features include the 12.3-inch panoramic displays with the latest Kia software, with wireless Apple CarPlay^® and Android^™ Auto. Drivers will appreciate the over-the-air updates that save money and time. Along with a few new driver-assistance features, Kia includes a fingerprint-authentication system in the 2026 Sportage. Shoppers can add an upgraded Harman/Kardon sound system along with a wireless charging port and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

The entry-level 2026 Sportage will come with driver-assistance features like Forward Collision Warning, Forward Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane-Tracing Assist, Lane-Departure Warning, Driver-Attention Monitoring, Automatic High-Beam Headlights, Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection, and Rear Parking Sensors.
