The Best of Two Powertrains

The 2022 Kia Sorento Plug-In Hybrid includes two powertrains that work together. The turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor. These two engines work with a six-speed automatic and torque-vectoring all-wheel drive with a center-locking differential. With the electric motor and the gas engine, the Sorento delivers 261 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. On its own, the gas engine delivers 177 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque.

The electric motor has a range of 32 miles, as estimated by the EPA. With the combined electric and gas motor, the EPA-estimated fuel efficiency is 79 MPGe and 33/35 MPG. The hybrid engines and all the other Kia Sorento specs are the same on both the SX and the SX Prestige trim levels.

Charging the 2022 Kia Sorento PHEV can be done with a Level 1 or Level 2 charger. Using the Level 2 charger is the fastest, and takes about three hours. The Level 1 charger takes longer but conveniently plugs in a 110-outlet. Drivers can put the Sorento in a hybrid mode, or they can choose to drive it with the electric motor or the gas motor. The various drive modes allow drivers to benefit from the electric motor and the turbocharged engine.

It also has a Smart Key with Push Button and Remote Start, Dual Zone Automatic Climate Control, and a Parking Distance Warning with Forward and Reverse.

The 2022 Sorento Hybrid SX Prestige trim also comes with the 10.25-inch Touchscreen, but added the Bose Premium Audio System, Surround View Monitor, Blind-Sport View Monitor, and 12.3-inch Digital Instrument Cluster.
